Zoo

We decided to take a field trip to the Greenville Zoo with some friends from Clemson on Friday since it was a ridiculous 70 degrees. I was pretty impressed that we made it through with 5 kids under 3 (one was another friend's little girl that got to tag along!) without any meltdowns. Not surprisingly, Karis LOVED the animals and cried when I took her away from the petting zoo part. Krieg was content to take a look and move on.

Return

Return, O wanderer, now return

And seek thy Father's face;

Those new desires which in thee burn,

were kindled by His grace.

Return, O wanderer, now return,

And wipe the falling tear;

Thy Father calls,--no longer mourn;

'Tis love invites thee near.

rice cereal mess

In case you are wondering what to do with the extra half tub of rice cereal that your baby, I mean big girl, doesn't eat anymore, just give it to your 2 year old and add a little water. And then some blue food coloring!

We have started doing a little preschool at home over the past few weeks, which basically means giving me some structure and incentive to be creative with activities for Krieg. This week we are working on "S" activities. So this one was supposed to involve "scooping" the dry rice cereal with different spoons. It then evolved into spreading, and then with the addition of some water and blue food coloring, it just turned out to be a really fun mess for some cute little hands! Now the remains are in the fridge to see what it will feel like cold tomorrow!

It's official...

We have a walker!

Karis has been testing out her walking skills the last few days a few steps at a time, but today she decided to take off. She would walk a good 10 or more steps at a time, even sometimes if there was not a specific destination. Balance is still an issue, but I love seeing her try! Watch out world, here she comes!

Vast, Unmeasured, Boundless, Free

I was reading a chapter in The Knowledge of the Holy this morning about God being infinite and therefore limitless in every way. As I meditated on the thought that all of God's characteristics are unlimited, without end, boundless, etc, it just put me in awe of God. His love for me is boundless and free, his mercy is never limited by the vastness of my sin. These were the two hymns that came to mind...

O the deep, deep love of Jesus!

Vast, unmeasured, boundless, free!

Rolling as a mighty ocean

In its fullness over me!

Underneath me, all around me,

Is the current of Your love

Leading onward, leading homeward

To Your glorious rest above!

O the deep, deep love of Jesus!

Spread His praise from shore to shore,

How His love is never-ending,

And it changes nevermore;

How He watches o’er His loved ones,

Died to call them all His own;

How for them He’s interceding,

Watching o’er them from the throne.

O the deep, deep love of Jesus!

Love of ev’ry love the best:

‘Tis an ocean vast of blessing,

‘Tis a haven sweet of rest.

O the deep, deep love of Jesus!

‘Tis a heav’n of heav’ns to me;

And it lifts me up to glory,

With You evermore to be.

1. The love of Christ is rich and free;
Fixed on His own eternally;
Nor earth, nor hell, can it remove;
Long as He lives, His own He’ll love.

2. His loving heart engaged to be
Their everlasting Surety;

’Twas love that took their cause in hand,
And love maintains it to the end.

Chorus: Love cannot from its post withdraw;
Nor death, nor hell, nor sin, nor law,
Can turn the Surety’s heart away;
He’ll love His own to endless day.

3. Love has redeemed His sheep with blood;
And love will bring them safe to God;
Love calls them all from death to life;
And love will finish all their strife.

4. He loves through every changing scene,
Nor aught from Him can Zion wean;
Not all the wanderings of her heart
Can make His love for her depart.
(Repeat chorus)

5. At death, beyond the grave, He’ll love;
In endless bliss, His own shall prove
The blazing glory of that love
Which never could from them remove.

Rock-a-bye...

Big Girl!

Little Miss Climber figured out how to climb up in to the rocking chair by herself today when I wasn't looking, and was pretty pleased with herself. She LOVES to rock in it because there is a bell hooked onto the back that rings whenever she rocks. And, she also figured out how to stand up in the rocking chair-I think we are going to have more than a few bumps and bruises on this child!
