Discipleship and Pranks

The LP ended Wednesday as our students and then our staff left Myrtle Beach. It was a sad day for many because our students and staff had become so close with many people that we will not see as often as we had this summer. It was also an exciting time because it means that school will begin soon and it is at school where we will see how successful the summer was for our students. The last two weeks of the summer were incredibly busy for us. It was filled with the pressure to finish well with the students we were discipling, while seeking to connect with the students from Western to determine what we can do best to help them spiritually next semester. Kevin gave two talks in one week. He taught the last Bible Study Training and gave a talk about how to relate one's summer experience to family and friends. Our staff and students were also able to prank another Campus Outreach Project. I know this may seem controversial to some, but it was fun and harmless and it allowed our students to really bond in a very fun way. Also, over the last two weeks, Kevin and the guys he was discipling were able to continue dialoguing the gospel with Eoin, our friend from Ireland. It was probably my (Kevin) favorite part of the summer. We were really able to see him begin desiring a relationship with Christ as we studied through the book of John with him. He had seen the lives of our students at work and as we helped him by giving him rides, providing him with meals, and just having fun with him. This was a great testimony to God and his working in our lives. It was very sad to part with him at the end of the summer, but it was amazing to see someone who had no desire to walk with God be changed by God and begin praying regularly and seeking to have a relationship with God. You can visit his blog to read some of his thoughts about our students and what he has experienced this summer.
